Now offering Virtual Services during COVID-19 only
Back in March when all this begun, I don't think anybody ever thought COVID would still be a problem now. Fortunately doulas are allowed back into Orlando area Advent hospitals. Unfortunately, Winnie is still not allowing doulas in to support their clients.
During this time as we walk through the unknown, I want you to know that I am here for you! While I am still offering my services in person for those birthing at Advent, home or in a birthing center atmosphere, there are many that are still choosing to birth at Winnie Palmer.
Winnie is limiting the amount of support people to one(1) for each laboring mother. This one person has to be the same person throughout the entire stay of the mother. This means the mother has to choose between the father or the doula (and in my mind, I don't even see how that is a choice honestly). Therefore, I am offering virtual support during the time of labor and birth for families choosing to birth at Winnie Palmer.
So how does virtual support work? I would like to make it work a lot like I would a regular package, but online for the birth! We would meet in person for prenatal meetings and still create a birth plan. I will still be available for you during labor and birth, just through video instead of in person. And then I would also attend a postpartum meeting with you in your home. For obvious reasons, essential oils brought to the birth, and my photography and video will not be offered for this package. My fee during this time for clients birthing at Winnie will be $800.
Now what happens if the hospital change their policy and begin to allow more than one support person after you have already signed this agreement? Well I LOVE in person support, and I will just allow the excitement of them now allowing doulas, to be a gift of my in person support! There isn't a doubt in my mind that I would be there for you, in person, if at all possible during labor and birth.
Please reach out to me for further questions. I have supported several virtual births in the past months and would be more than happy to discuss with you how well it can work for you. I pray that you are able to find peace during this time of confusion. May God bless you and your family, and keep you safe and HEALTHY!!
